A portion of humanity turned its back on mankind in the waning days of the last Golden Age. Over one and a half centuries later, the PHR emerged from the shadows as an unrecognizable civilization, and its people irrevocably changed. They are no longer simple human beings, they are post-humans - cyborgs. A society no more than three billion strong, the Republic is a nation of elites, each individual more than a match for several lesser mortals. With remarkable speed, they have made spectacular technological advancements. Since its fiery birth, the PHR has been guided by the enigmatic White Sphere, a mysterious object of immense power. It is treated by the people of the PHR with a reverence bordering on worship.
When the White Sphere suddenly arrived on Earth a year before the Scourge invasion it warned of their approach. Those who heeded its warning rapidly made their way to the assembly point of Vega IV to follow the sphere from danger. Their escape from the ruling government's fleet caused the infamous Battle of Vega. Firing upon their pursuers, mankind's fleet was crippled. Guided by the coordinates shared by the White Sphere, the Abandonists jumped away leaving their old lives behind. That the PHR began with fratricide and betrayal was - they argue - a sad necessity, regretted but not atoned for.
On the eve of the UCM's Reconquest campaign, a strange vessel appeared over the UCM's capital Aurum. Containing a delegation from the Post Human Republic the descendants of the Abandonists had returned from their unknown destination. Whilst early relations were soured by the actions of the Republics forefathers a working relationship was quickly established. Although they advised against the Reconquest the PHR has conducted various operations in every theatre of the conflict. This includes surface raids on specific and unknown targets, interdiction and disruption strikes, and even a full-scale conquest of the Tlalocan Moons Cradle World system. It appears the PHR has its own ambitions in this war.
Ground forces are advanced, flexible bodies favouring quality over quantity. The population of the PHR is estimated to be less than one-sixth that of the UCM. To be effective fighters, the PHR values survivability and lethality, providing a matchless quality of superior training and equipment. Most vehicles feature a single pilot with an AI counterpart supporting the human. Beyond AI assistance, many post-humans have undergone the binding and are artificially enhanced beyond the imagination. Certain enhancements are present in every PHR soldier, suggesting some are mandatory for military service. Despite wearing advanced armour in battle, many PHR opt to pilot towering walkers and use their formidable arsenal over risking their lives in close-quarter fighting.
Whilst significantly smaller than the fleets of the UCM and Scourge, the PHR fleet is a powerful force. Highly trained crew and advanced equipment allow sailors to carry out commanders' orders with ease. PHR ship broadsides are now famous among mankinds fighters with many reveling the sight of alien ships being blasted apart under such concentrated fire. All vessels are protected by layers of skillfully conceived and elaborately constructed armour which is exceptional at repelling damage. Crew numbers are limited across the fleet with many services and maintenance tasks being carried out by AI.
The supremely tough PHR fleet delivers superlative firepower through massed weapon broadsides, producing a maximum damage output unmatched by other races. However, their limited fire arcs require a skillful hand at the helm to unleash a punishing double salvo.
Days before the Scourge invasion a small contingent of humanity left Earth and the Cradle Worlds, led by an alien artificial intelligence known as the White Sphere. Those that fled with it fired on their pursuers, an act of rebellion that forever tarnished them among those who remained.
